The race for the title is not over by a long shot. Going to the last round it is going to be interesting to see who is able to scrape through the finish line. On the other hand the relegation battle is getting even hotter going to the last round of matches. Everyone is looking to survive and stay in the top flight.

1. The title race!

• Real Madrid still very much in it

After a hard fought 3-2 win, Zinedine Zidane’s men gave themselves a chance in the title and pushed the matter to the last day of the campaign. It was rather a beautiful performance characterized by poor defending towards the end of the match.

The opponents Valencia produced a strong response towards the end of the second half but Madrid managed to hang on to Cristiano Ronaldo’s double and a goal from Karim Benzema. Los Blancos are within a point behind rivals Barcelano going to the last game of the season.

• Atletico de Madrid

No one saw this one coming. Diego Simeone’s men were shocked by relegation strugglers Levante. A win would have season the Madrid side level on points with leaders Barcelona but behind on goal difference. Unfortunately it was not to be, they have also lost the runners up spot to bitter rivals Real Madrid.

• Barcelona

After a disappointing exit in the European biggest competition the Champions League, Luis Enrique’s men seemed to have let go of everything they have worked hard for this season. They saw their domant lead in the domestic league cut down to within one point of the third place team.

They looked flat but in the last two games they have reminded everyone who they are. Banging nine goals in two matches to stay at the top, however they will no one wrong move could ruin all their hard work. So they will be guarded going to the last match of the season.

2. The relegation battle!

• Levante

Levante who are already relegated registered a surprise win today against title chasers and Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid. However the win proves to be little too late as they cannot avoid the axe. The teams above Levante have a better points tally, even if they win their last match they won’t be able to avoid relegation. Thats how cruel this game is.

• Rayo Vallecano, Sporting de Gijon and Getafe

Rayo Vallecano’s survival chances chances were hit a new low when they lost to Real Sociedad on Sunday. Sporting Gijon also made it difficult for themselves when they drew 1-1 with Getafe who are just a couple of points away from the drop. This means a win for one these teams and a loss for Getafe will mean one of them will survive the drop.

That is how technical it is. This season has been one to remember in the division. We have seen highs and lows all over the log the table. The only you can do is to sit back and wait for the final round. Who will deliver or receive the knockout blow?
