A year ago if someone asked you about Percy Tau you would have had little to say or nothing at all. However is in it amazing how things can quickly change in football and in life general. All of a sudden there is plenty to say about this wonderful talent. At this moment in time, there is a lot that soccer fans have to say about the 22-year-old attacker. He is a living proof that in life you have to wait for your opportunity and when it comes, it is a must for you to grab it with both hands.
He came from Mamelodi Sundowns youth structures and struggled to break into first team. He was then loaned to Witbank Spurs before Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane brought him back to the club. The young man had an opportunity when Sundowns striker Leonardo Castro got injured for the Champions league match and he grabbed it with both hands. The Champions League has been a platform for the 22-year-old to showcase his abilities in SA football.
For such a young inexperience player to break into the first team in a club that is full of stars like Mamelodi Sundowns, says a lot about his abilities. It is not easy to break into Sundowns first team from the youth structures because Sundowns are a buying team, their financial muscles allow them to buy any player they want. But the young Tau did it. It can be done!
