It was a fantastic evening for the Evertonians and Merseyside was painted blue in the wake of a famous victory against the other blues from Manchester. The manner in which Ronald Koeman’s Everton dispatched Manchester City, sent a very strong message and you immediately get the sense that something huge is brewing at Goodison of which is soon to become Finch Farm.
Young legs ran the show for Everton
Pep Guardiola’s City were chasing shadows as rampant Koeman’s youth ran the show. The slightly ageing Man City side which included the likes of veterans Yaya Toure, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna felt the full force of Everton’s fresh legs. The legs of scorers Tom Davies, Romelu Lukaku and substitute Ademola Lookman.
Koeman’s faith in youth paid off
City may have had the bad day but take nothing away from what Ronald Koeman is doing at Everton. The squad looks fresh and full of energy, he has given the youth a chance. That is the way to go these days and as a manager you need to have faith in every decision that you make.
The only way is up for this club
Everton looked superb, and the way things are at the moment, also with Koeman’s great record when it comes to developing young talent, there is only one way for Everton Football Club and that way is up.
